In this episode, we explore some of the more common unhelpful thoughts and beliefs that can contribute to burnout in the helping field, which include:
- The needs of others take priority over my own
- If I don't do it, nobody will
- Self care is selfish when so many are in need
- Setting boundaries with others means I am rude or uncaring
- Feeling this way means I'm doing something wrong or I'm not trying hard enough
Meg talks a little bit about how these thoughts can be harmful (and sneaky!) and offers up some positive reframes/thought challenges you can use to stop being an asshole to yourself and start treating yourself like a human with emotions instead.
